Mark Emanuelson is an international business leader who has 20 years experience leading sales and marketing teams in the high technology and media sectors. Mark has led successful teams and programmes that created transformational growth for the individuals involved and the companies they contributed to. He is American born and has lived and worked internationally in both mature global markets and high growth emerging countries around the world. Mark also enjoys providing consulting to charities, social entrepreneurs, and community groups to improve their sales and marketing.
Mark pursues excellence in his leadership roles and contributes expertise in sales management, marketing effectiveness, and business development. He has in-depth industry knowledge in many sectors including information technology, Internet, Web 2.0, telecommunications, broadcast and professional video. Mark is a leader, consultant, and innovator who is often brought in as an agent for change with the organisations he works with. He knows how to leverage tools like financial modelling and strategic planning for business success. And, Mark has on-the-ground experience working internationally in the Americas, Asia, Europe, Middle East, and Africa.
An international sales and marketing director
Most recently, Mark Emanuelson was the European general manager for sales in the broadcast IT and professional video market for Panasonic, the largest Japanese electronics company. In this role, he led a team of 30 sales account managers delivering €100 million euro in annual turnover across 40 countries. He instituted a professional sales forecasting programme that helped the unit remain profitable in a challenging recession economy. Mark worked with senior executives from all the major broadcast, production, and information technology companies in Europe.
In his previous role, Mark Emanuelson was the sales director in the emerging markets of Central and Eastern Europe for Cisco Systems, the worldwide leader in networking technology that transforms how people connect, communicate and collaborate. Mark led a 100 person sales team across 18 countries that delivered €175 million euro in annual turnover. Under his leadership, Mark grew revenue by 40% each year. He led his team to improve customer coverage on 20,000 mid-market companies and build strategic plans with IT distributors and resellers. He also instituted a successful training programme that improved solution sales to increase customer loyalty.
Mark Emanuelson has lived in Europe for 8 years, working in virtually every country. In his first role in Europe, Mark led a team at Cisco that created joint sales and marketing partnerships with major telecommunications companies and new start-up firms. His direct reports were responsible for developing partnerships with companies generating over €3 billion euro in revenue. Among the many sales and marketing programmes his team executed, one was awarded as the best sales lead generation initiative in the company generating over 8,000 sales leads.
Mark started with Cisco in California, where he is from originally. There, he led Internet marketing and Web development teams. Among many projects, Mark improved the user experience for the largest e-commerce site on the Internet at the time which generated $20 million dollars per day in electronic orders. He also launched the first online community at Cisco which today has members from 120 countries that contribute 1,000 posts per day.
Prior to his career with Cisco, Mark Emanuelson led Internet marketing for Adaptec, another high tech firm based in California. He managed a $5 million dollar marketing programme and improved fulfilment by 30% by replacing manual processes with online systems. Before joining the technology sector, Mark had a six year career in the media business as a sales account manager for the largest media firms in the USA like Gannet, Scripps and others. There, he led media sales and a telemarketing team that delivered 100% growth.
Business leader, community activist, and global citizen
Mark enjoys giving back to the community too. He often consults with charities, social entrepreneurs and community organisations. Mark helped Habitat for Humanity build a relationship programme for major donors, created a marketing strategy for the Missing Persons Helpline, and launched an innovative education initiative in emerging markets with the United Nations Development Programme. The initiative provided turnkey technology solutions to schools and broadband access in rural communities for social inclusion and economic development.
Mark Emanuelson is a frequent conference speaker at trade and industry events. His presentation topics include international business, high tech sales, marketing, innovation, venture investing, and social change through technology adoption. He has been awarded as one of the best speakers several times at the Channel Focus Europe event where he spoke on how to leverage EU funding, doing business in the Adriatic countries, the emerging opportunities in Turkey, and executive selling strategies. He regularly attends conferences like the Skoll World Forum for social entrepreneurs, The Economist roundtables, and the TED conferences in Oxford, UK, or Mysore, India.
Mark Emanuelson earned a Master of Business Administration graduate degree with honours from the Santa Clara University located in Silicon Valley, California. Santa Clara University ranks as one of the top 10 MBA programmes in the USA. Now, Mark resides in Great Britain where he lives near London with his wife and nine year old daughter. Marks holds dual US and UK citizenship, and is open to travel and relocate around the World for the right opportunity.
